llustrations and cover for a Dutch iPad-book on Bridge: Bridge met Barrie en Harrie. I wouldn't for the life of me know how to play it, but for the publisher this apparently wasn't a problem. The book is about (surprise) the twins Barrie en Harrie and includes a lot of puzzles which I didn't understand. You can buy the book in the iTunes store.

My take on the gothic Horror genre.

In 2009 verscheen het boek Een absolute mus - mussenwoorden in tekst en tekening.  Samenstellers Peter Müller en Bert Keizer bedachten een lijst woorden waar ‘mus’ in voorkwam – van Erasmus tot muskiet, van intimus tot musical – en verzochten tekenaars en schrijvers daarbij iets te maken. Ik kreeg het thema animus, dat van tekst werd voorzien door A.L. Snijders.

De tentoonstelling werd geopend door Midas Dekkers:

My bank allows customers to have their own custom bank pass. Two years ago I tried to get this drawing on it twice, but it got rejected each time. The bank never gives reasons why. I submitted it again this year, and finally they accepted it

Once I had a goldfish. I didn’t take care of it that well. Sometimes I wasn’t even able to see if it was still alive because of all the gunk in the bowl. And then one day, when I came home, I could see it clearly. Lying next to the bowl. Dead. This is in remembrance of my suicidal goldfish. Let’s call him Kurt.

Designed for my custom bank pass, but it got rejected by my crummy bank. No idea why. Did they think it wasn’t original artwork? Do they only allow photos, but not drawings? Who can tell.

One of a series of fictional movie posters and reviews for existing titles, culled from the yearly Rotterdam Film Festival catalogue.

The review (fake as well) was written by Arianne Hinz. Produced for Sargasso & Zone 5300.

Driehoeksverhoudingen, bloedwraak en spermadonorschap zorgen ervoor dat de paden van 7 mannen, die elkaar aan het begin van de film niet kennen, kruisen. In een subtiel psychologisch spel raken hun levens vervolgens steeds meer met elkaar vervlochten. De in zichzelf gekeerde Jack, die zijn vriendin deelt met de uitbundige Steve, wordt naar het leven gestaan door de rancuneuze James. Als deze laatste op aandringen van de onvruchtbare Wesley zijn sperma uitleent aan de zus van eerdergenoemde Jack is ondergetekende de verhaallijn al wel kwijt. En dat wordt in de loop van de film alleen nog maar erger. Want dan hebben we ook John, Simon en Kurt nog. Onbegrijpelijk plot volgt op onbegrijpelijk plot, en dat de regiseur ervoor heeft gekozen de hoofdpersonen onzichtbaar te maken helpt ook al niet echt.

Goed gecaste stemmen, prachtig poetisch camerawerk en oogverblindende achtergronden maken veel goed, maar slagen er toch niet in het gevoel weg te nemen dat je iets mist.(AH)
